Cedar Fence Installation in Snohomish County, WAFree quoteCedar Fence Installation

Western red cedar is the default privacy fence in the Pacific Northwest for a reason. It is naturally rot and insect resistant, it takes stain well, and it looks warm the day it goes up. Left alone it silvers to gray; kept stained every couple of years it holds its color. Either way, set in concrete, a cedar fence lasts fifteen to twenty years in Snohomish County soil.

In the current local market a 6 foot cedar privacy fence mostly runs $35 to $60 a linear foot installed, with a walk gate at $400 to $900 and old-fence tear-out adding $3 to $5 a foot. Slope, gates, and access move the number. The written quote after we walk your line is the price you pay.

Before you ask

How long does a cedar fence last in the Pacific Northwest?

Fifteen to twenty years when the posts are set in concrete and the boards are kept off the ground. The posts fail first, not the cedar, which is why we set every post in concrete.

Do I have to stain a cedar fence?

No. Stained every two to three years it keeps its warm color; left alone it weathers to a silver gray and still lasts. Staining is about looks, not survival.
